Pharmacological action: Pancreas extracts have been used since 1904, when they proved effective in the treatment of cystic fibrosis. Later, their effectiveness was established in the treatment of malabsorption syndrome caused by pancreatic insufficiency of organic origin such as cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatectomy or other conditions in which pancreatic insufficiency affects the digestion of fats.

Pancreatin is prepared from the exocrine pancreas of animals and contains the main enzymes of this gland (trypsin, chymotrypsin, amylase, lipase, etc.).

It contributes to the digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. It can be inactivated in the gastric juice, which is why it is delivered in enterosoluble medicinal forms.
